Welcome to MotherProud, Mama. I’m so glad you’re here.
If you are reading this with a heavy heart, a pit in your stomach, or a chest bursting with a strange mix of pride and terror, I see you. I have been exactly where you are.
My name is Katie Nunnally, and I am the founder and main voice behind MotherProud. But before any of those titles, I am, first and foremost, a Marine Mom.
The Day Everything Changed
In 2018, my oldest son did what many of our brave children do: he raised his right hand and swore an oath to defend our country as a United States Marine.
Nothing prepares you for that transition. No one tells you how quiet the house feels after they leave for boot camp, or how agonizing the wait is for that first handwritten letter. When his first overseas deployment order came, I hit rock bottom. I spent late nights scouring the internet for comfort, searching for anyone who understood the specific anxiety of a military mother.
Through that loneliness, I discovered a powerful truth: Our children are fighting the hard battles on the front lines, but we as mothers must hold the line at home. And we cannot do it alone.
Why I Founded MotherProud
I started this space to be the community I desperately needed years ago. MotherProud isn’t just a blog; it’s a sanctuary where military moms can find deployment resources, emotional support, and shared strength.
But I wanted to go a step further. As military moms, our pride isn't silent—it’s something we want to shout from the rooftops. That’s why I created the MotherProud.
Every t-shirt, custom mug, and personalized keepsake we design here is crafted with a mother’s love. They aren't just products; they are badges of honor. They are tangible reminders that keep our kids close to our hearts, and secret handshakes that help us recognize fellow military moms at the grocery store.
A Promise of Safety (OPSEC)
Because our children’s safety is paramount, "Katie Nunnally" is my pen name to protect my son's privacy and honor military security (OPSEC). You will never see his exact location or our full names here, and I promise to always keep this space a safe, secure environment for your family, too.
Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful)
Whether your child is a new recruit at MCRD, stationed overseas, or deployed to a conflict zone 6,000 miles away, please remember: You are not alone. You have a sisterhood standing right beside you.
Take a deep breath, Mama. Explore our articles, find comfort in our community, and wear your pride with honor.
Stay Strong. Wear Your Pride.
With love and respect,
Katie Nunnally
